I Would Describe Myself As

I came back to VA several months ago, it is the first state out of twelve I have lived in that I returned to because I missed the people. I love it here, and I am making it my home. I have started in a new career, so I am not making the money that I once was (yet), but I am employed, I enjoy my work, have nice car and motorcycle, and I live alone in a small place at an absolutely beautiful location right on a river. I have a group of friends, oddities one and all, that I trust and am proud of and would not change if given the chance. My current job has a rotating schedule, so my time off varies, making the social life a bit limited at the moment, but that is changing soon.

I don’t really fit a ‘type’, which seems to confuse some people. I spent most of my life as a contractor, did a lot of sports growing up, and am an avid motorcyclist. Yet I am a bit of a geek at heart, I read a lot, love the Ren Faire, can be a bit of a gamer or anime fan at times. I have settled down quite a bit, and have become more of a home body, so normally would rather be home with the mate cuddling up for a movie, going for a walk / hike, or maybe a small BBQ with a couple of friends than go to a club on a regular basis, but I am pretty open for just about anything on the occasional or with the right person.

I am a bit of a throw back in my views. I try to be honest with everyone including myself (harder than it sounds), still believe in honor, chivalry, faithfulness, and protecting the ones you love. I did my military time, and am proud of the fact. I am told I'm funny, and always try to be an optimist. An Irish thing most likely, but if I care about someone, there is not much I would not do to put a smile on their face. My humor comes mostly from my family (NYC), so snappy banter tends to fly (I will laugh at myself in a heartbeat, you can rest assured I will most likely laugh at you as well, and hope you can do the same). I am far from perfect, but I am content with who I have become.

What Do You Look For?

I am looking for the package deal. The friend / lover / partner / buddy / confidant. The woman I trust completely, that can make me laugh, stimulates my mind, yet can still make me forget what I was saying with a look. There is a saying something to the tune of ‘it was the legs that brought me, but the mind that kept me coming back’, which sums it up nicely. Looks are great, but it’s the eyes, and the sharp mind behind them making them sparkle that is what truly keeps me coming back (if you are known for your smirk, step to the front of the line, lol). I tend to put my partner and relationship first when I am with someone, so I need the person that keeps me in mind as well. That being said, I am not in the gym shape I once was, but I am still height / weight proportionate, solid, and although a little over or under is fine, I ask that you stay within the margins as well.
I do not want a mother, nor do I want a pet (overly aggressive, or passive), I want my equal, my partner. Someone who is not afraid to get up in my face and let me know if she feels I was out of line, but does not have a need to try and prove something every day. I am open, honest, and take loyalty almost to a fault once someone has gained my trust. I have zero tolerance for cheats or liars. If you toss out lies casually, or are taken, please move along.

I enjoy going out on dates, love making new friends, and am not against FWB if it happens while looking, but I am eventually looking for the right person to settle down with. Something to keep in mind.

Ok… entirely too much about me. If interested, let me know. I am terrible with these things, and it is hard to get a good read on people with email (internet meeting is new for me and way out of my comfort zone). I would much rather talk on the phone or meet for coffee someplace where we can make eye contact and get a feel for each other. Never know, if nothing else and chemistry does not hit, you may still make a new friend, and you got a free coffee or dinner. ;)
